Michael over at Shadow to Light does a great job of chronicling the history of the “New Atheist” movement. He has diligently recorded the events leading up to it’s agonizing death.

Yeah, “New Atheism” is dead. The war is over. The New Atheists were defeated. They have met their enemy and it is they. The Atheist movement destroyed itself and I encourage you to read Michael’s blog if you have any interest in learning about what happens to movements based on unlivable philosophies. A house built upon sand, etc.

You can still find a handful of atheists online. They bang furiously on their keyboards, copying and pasting quotes from Hitchens, Dawkins, or Harris, oblivious to the fact that the quotes have all been rebutted. They haven’t yet caught on to what the rest of the world understands completely – Atheism makes people into monsters. Atheism creates Jeffrey Epstein.

This specific article is the second (or third) in a series that sheds some light on the friendly relationship the most influential “New Atheists” had with – Jeffrey Epstein. You do remember Jeffrey Epstein, right?

It shouldn’t surprise you that a guy like Epstein would hang around people who claim there is no God. Jeffrey would have been uncomfortable in your Sunday School class. He was rich enough that he could surround himself with people who went easy on his conscience. It’s not a coincidence that his inner circle consisted of atheists. Atheists, by their own admission, have “no religion”. So, if you’re going to be a child molester, it makes sense to have atheist friends.

Atheists don’t believe in sin. Without God, there is only “the law” to determine correct and incorrect behavior. Things that are legal are morally correct. Things that are illegal are morally incorrect. If you’re a billionaire, you don’t worry about “the law”. You are god of your world. Your ethics are determined by what you can buy. If you can afford it, then it’s “good”.

No doubt, atheists will distance themselves from Epstein claiming, “We didn’t know what he was doing behind closed doors.” And while that’s probably true, it’s irrelevant. As is always the case, atheists keep talking without understanding the conversation. Even if they DID know what Epstein was up to, their philosophical mindset has no basis for condemning him. Atheism enables wickedness. That’s precisely why Epstein bankrolled the New Atheist movement.

At this point, to demonstrate their ability to consistently miss the point, the handful of online atheists will shriek, “Not all atheists are child molesters!” Which is true only because not all atheists are rich.

Most atheists aren’t billionaires so they can’t afford to live out their philosophy. The reason the majority of atheists are law abiding citizens is because they weren’t personal friends with Jeffrey Epstein. They don’t have enough cash to live a truly godless lifestyle. The shrieking atheists live morally because they can’t afford to do otherwise. Their “righteousness” is an unwanted garment they would discard if they could.

If you had billions of dollars and believed that you were immune to consequences, do you think it would it change the way you live?

Do not eat the bread of a selfish man,
Or desire his delicacies;
For as he thinks within himself, so he is.
He says to you, “Eat and drink!”
But his heart is not with you.

  1. “You do have religion. You are one of the lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, abusive, ungrateful, unholy, implacable, slanderers, profligates, brutes, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit.
Turns out the “end times” prediction was talking about you!”

religion in this context: “a personal set or institutionalized system of religious(relating to or manifesting faithful devotion to an acknowledged ultimate reality or deity ) attitudes, beliefs, and practices” – merriam-webster.com

It’s great to see a christian who evidently thinks that accusing someone of having religion is the best insult. Alas, JB, you follow a religion that there are many splinters of, and none of these splinters can show that they are the only TrueChristians.

I’m quite happy to love myself since I’m a pretty nifty person. As for the rest, alas, JB chooses to lie again since he needs to pretend that only he is good.

As for the end times nonsense, nope, it wasn’t talking about me. The end times claims are just pathetic and sadistic fantasies by humans who get offended that no one needs them or their invented god. Still waiting for those end times, JB. Will it be another thousand years? Will it be never and Christians will end up claiming that those parts of the bible aren’t true either, ignoring them for the nonsense they are?

and still no evidence of atheists condoning sex slavery. How wonderful to see you lying again, JB.

  2. Hmmm, JB claims “atheism collapsed”. Research shows this to be a wish on JB’s part: “Most U.S. adults now say it is not necessary to believe in God to be moral and have good values (56%), up from about half (49%) who expressed this view in 2011. This increase reflects the continued growth in the share of the population that has no religious affiliation, but it also is the result of changing attitudes among those who do identify with a religion, including white evangelical Protestants. – Pew Research center 2017

“The 2018 GSS was just released and there’s some big news. Those of “no religion” (23.1%) are statistically the same size as evangelicals (22.8%). There was also a small resurgence of mainline Protestants, while Catholics are down 3% in the last four years.” – 2018 General Social Survey, Ryan Burge Eastern illinois University.

    1. There’s actually a much better solution to the issue of sex slavery than the weak, fraudulent ones you presented. Moab, the nation that was being attacked here, was a wicked, depraved nation. One of the things that their pagan god worship involved was depraved sexual acts. I believe God was using Israel here to judge Moab for their extreme wickedness in this area (which is a concept that might not make sense to you and your relative truth 😉) and as a result, the Lord wanted to spare those who had not participated in such sexual acts. They were likely made into servants and eventually were allowed to naturalize into an Israelites, should they devote themselves to YHWH. As for why the young boys were killed, I believe that because of the tribal warfare age that Israel lived in, they had to be killed to prevent them from growing up to take vengeance. Not every Christian knows everything from the Bible or every particular story. You don’t either. Don’t pretend to act like you know more than us because you read a “problematic quote” from the Bible that some people might not be aware about on some other blithering Atheist’s website. You’re all just spouting the same stuff from your little circlejerk, pretending to be intellectuals who have a defensible ideology. If you wanna talk about the Bible being problematic, we can talk about those two bears who ate a bunch of kids who were teasing a prophet because he was bald (I bet you haven’t heard that one 😉)

      1. You of course accuse me of making a “weak fraudulent” argument, but unsurprisingly, you have no explanation why you want to claim that this is the case. All you have are baseless claims, Jeff.

I can also see that you have invented your own version of the bible and what it “really” means since all you can manage is claims of something being “likely” but again with no reason why anyone should consider your claims likely. We also have nothing to say that your god exists, uses Israel for anything, or that Moab was “wicked”. That’s only a term used by a jealous neighbor when they want to claim land that isn’t theirs.

I always find it enjoyable when a Christian wants to declare that his god’s orders were based on cultural artifacts. Why is your poor god unable to turn the hears of these children, Jeff, and why did they think that girls were okay to take? Oh yes, they wanted sex slaves.

It’s great to see you try to excuse your ignorance. Sorry, I know the bible’s stories, and I’m not even the one who claims that the bible is the only way anyone can know how to live their lives correctly. I do know more than you. You can correct that, but Christians often can’t be bothered to read their holy book. There is more than one problematic story in the bible, and again you’d know that if you’d actually read it. Sorry, not gotten from a website either, I read the bible on my own and found all of the stuff in it that unsurprisingly no pastor or priest will ever mention to the flock.

I know all about the silly sorry where Elisha supposedly made water pure by putting salt in it. This doesn’t work. Then this nonsense happened “23 He went up from there to Bethel; and while he was going up on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, saying, “Go away, baldhead! Go away, baldhead!” 24 When he turned around and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two she-bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys.”

So we have a supposed prophet of your god, who gets upset by being called bald. Then, this god can take the time to send bears to harm the boys because a grown man gets upset by being insulted. Now, a lot of Christians will try to claim that the small boys were teen agers, or something else, anything to excuse Elisha and their god from being pathetic. But the translators of the bible disagree with them, saying “small boys” – NSRV, “little children” –KJV “young boys” – Amplified Bible etc. “lads” – YLT, etc.

I have a defensible ideology that it is pathetic when a grown man needs a god to use magic when he’s insulted by kids. Really, Jeff, you find this admirable?

  3. “Athiests condone what Epstein did.” – JB

Nice to see that JB again gives the middle finger to God and insists that his lies are okay. Please do show an atheist that condones sexual slavery. I’m sure you probably can, but the vast majority of us don’t. Just like Christians.

  4. “Atheists don’t believe in sin. Condemning sex slavery as wrong is inconsistent with your professed worldview. This is why atheism collapsed. Everyone with the capacity for rational thought has moved on from Atheism.
Your petulant rants are entertaining though.” – JB

Yep, you are right, atheists don’t believe in sin. Sin is an invention by theists, who can’t agree on what their god considers a sin.
What I do accept is that there are harmful actions by humans that need to be stopped by other humans. This includes sex slavery since it removes the freedom of the victims.

And nope, rational thought is practiced by atheists and some theists. JB has to pretend that only people who agree with him have “rational thought”.

I’m very glad to see that JB can’t deny that the bible advocates for sexual slavery. This god gets its cut too, if we are to believe the bible. Killing the families of girls, and taking them away to be used as brood mares and given away as prizes, nothing like divinely approved human trafficking.

    1. “What I do accept is that there are harmful actions by humans that need to be stopped by other humans.”

There is no such thing as sin. But everyone should stop doing whatever you personally dislike. You’re a fascist moral dictator.

      1. Wow, JB, way to try to twist words. Sorry, dear, but most of humanity agrees with me, and I suspect you do too. Civilization is when humans agree on what is good and bad, and happily humans have been getting better at not being jerks to each other.

We’ve been leaving behind most religions since they are based on needing to hate the “other” and pretending that believers are the only good people.

        1. Your religion worships yourself. You lack empathy for anyone who thinks differently. You have what scriptures call “a form of godliness that has no power.”

          1. Nope, JB, I have no religion at all. I have no empathy for those who want to force their nonsense on others. If you think that your vesion of you god exist, have at it and worship away. But you aren’t going to force it on everyone else just because you need the external validation that you are right.

“You must understand this, that in the last days distressing times will come. 2 For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, brutes, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to the outward form of godliness but denying its power. ”

The bit of scripture you took is here in the nonsense of the “End times”. Bummer on how its been a couple of thousand years and still a no show, only vague “prophecies” that describe people like they’ve always been, good and bad. Paul was sure that the “End times” would be happening in his lifetime and he was wrong. So, what indeed is the “outward form of godliness” or as you have it “a form of godliness that has no power.””? Godly means like a god, or very religiously devoted, so, is your god arrogant, abusive, unholy *and* having power? Having power and not having power seem to be the only difference here.

          2. You do have religion. You are one of the lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, abusive, ungrateful, unholy, implacable, slanderers, profligates, brutes, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit.

Turns out the “end times” prediction was talking about you!

  5. “The Atheist movement destroyed itself and I encourage you to read Michael’s blog if you have any interest in learning about what happens to movements based on unlivable philosophies. A house built upon sand, etc.”

The “New” Atheist movement is surely dead (although not “really most sincerely dead” yet), which was just an anti-religious knee-jerk rant after 9/11 by Dawkins and his ilk. It’s very hard to sustain a movement on what you’re against instead of having real vision and direction. After a while the rants just get boring. It’s also ontologically incoherent and full of fallacious scientistic argumentation that anyone with a rudimentary philosophical understanding can easily see through and refute.

Btw, thanks for pointing me to Michael’s blog. Good stuff!

  6. Hilarious to see someone declare something dead when it isn’t. I guess wishful thinking and outright lying is part and parcel of religion. Hmmm, it’s funny how Donald Trump “hung out” with Epstein, so what does that make him, and all of those conservative Christians who support him?

    1. Oh my gosh! You’re right!

Atheists “hung out” with Donald Trump! What does that make people like you who support atheists?!!

      1. what does that make me? Someone who knows that being an atheist doesn’t make you perfect, just like being a Christian doesn’t make you perfect either.

“Even if they DID know what Epstein was up to, their philosophical mindset has no basis for condemning him. Atheism enables wickedness. That’s precisely why Epstein bankrolled the New Atheist movement.” Alas, JB, you still lie about atheists and demonstrate that Christians ignore their bible which supposedly is an objective source of morality and says not to lie. Atheism again is having no belief in god/s. Atheists have all sorts of different philosophies that allow us to condemn people or to agree with them. I’m quite happy to say that I condemn people like Epstein, and Trump who demanded to look at teen age girls in a dressing room.

Now. how great is it that the bible itself and its god support the taking of young girls as sex slaves? No wonder Epstein buddied around with Trump, since Trump is such a good Christian.

        1. I want everyone to know that I did not pay Vel to make these comments. She is helping me by her own free will.

Vel, I always appreciate your willingness to demonstrate the veracity of my claims regarding atheism. I sincerely hope you will continue to show us the inner Epstein at the heart of every atheist.

        2. Ok, I know I’m taking the bait, but I must ask, where does it say in the Bible that people can take sex slaves.

          1. Jack, it’s a shame that Christians don’t know what is in their bible.

“17 Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known a man by sleeping with him. 18 But all the young girls who have not known a man by sleeping with him, keep alive for yourselves. 19 Camp outside the camp seven days; whoever of you has killed any person or touched a corpse, purify yourselves and your captives on the third and on the seventh day. 20 You shall purify every garment, every article of skin, everything made of goats’ hair, and every article of wood.”

21 Eleazar the priest said to the troops who had gone to battle: “This is the statute of the law that the Lord has commanded Moses: 22 gold, silver, bronze, iron, tin, and lead— 23 everything that can withstand fire, shall be passed through fire, and it shall be clean. Nevertheless it shall also be purified with the water for purification; and whatever cannot withstand fire, shall be passed through the water. 24 You must wash your clothes on the seventh day, and you shall be clean; afterward you may come into the camp.”

25 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 26 “You and Eleazar the priest and the heads of the ancestral houses of the congregation make an inventory of the booty captured, both human and animal. 27 Divide the booty into two parts, between the warriors who went out to battle and all the congregation. 28 From the share of the warriors who went out to battle, set aside as tribute for the Lord, one item out of every five hundred, whether persons, oxen, donkeys, sheep, or goats. 29 Take it from their half and give it to Eleazar the priest as an offering to the Lord. 30 But from the Israelites’ half you shall take one out of every fifty, whether persons, oxen, donkeys, sheep, or goats—all the animals—and give them to the Levites who have charge of the tabernacle of the Lord.”

31 Then Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the Lord had commanded Moses:

32 The booty remaining from the spoil that the troops had taken totaled six hundred seventy-five thousand sheep, 33 seventy-two thousand oxen, 34 sixty-one thousand donkeys, 35 and thirty-two thousand persons in all, women who had not known a man by sleeping with him.”

Now, Jack, Christians make up all sorts of excuses for the actions of their god in this story. We get to hear that slavery isn’t so bad or that it wasn’t the same as slavery in the US. However, the bible says that slavery was that bad, with fathers having to make the choice between staying with their family and freedom, and the New Testament acknowledging abusive masters. We also get a lot of excuses for why this god wants only virgins left alive. Now, why would their having had sex or not be an issue?

One of the arguments by a Christian apologist is that the Israelites desperately needed these girls as brood mares, and that’s from a Christian (The Roots of Restriction: Women in Early Israel”, Biblical Archaeologist, vol 41) The young boys, well, I’ve seen arguments made that it was more “humane” to murder them since their parents were dead; amazing what Christians will say.

We got to see just what abramic cultures do when they want to commit genocide during the conflict in Bosnia, etc; they try to wipe out any trace of the men, so yep, they wanted virgins to rape and impregnate.

So, yep, sex slaves and your god demanded a share for the temple.

          2. Atheists don’t believe in sin. Condemning sex slavery as wrong is inconsistent with your professed worldview. This is why atheism collapsed. Everyone with the capacity for rational thought has moved on from Atheism.

Your petulant rants are entertaining though.

          3. Her rants are getting a little bit dated. For a while now they’ve just been about slavery in the Bible, and God living Donald Trump.

          4. Correct. She only has half a dozen comments which she recycles in every conversation. This is what prompted the suspicion that Vel is actually software.
