Today, boys and girls, we’re going to learn about, “gaslighting.” When someone tries to make you think that you’re insane or out of touch with reality, it is called, “gaslighting.” There are lots of ways to gaslight a person but today we’ll just use this meme as our example.

First, you need to know that this meme is ‘sarcastic.’ That means, it says the opposite of what it actually means. So the words ‘incredibly difficult’ and ‘traumatic’ are not true. The meme is actually saying that explaining homosexuality is ‘not difficult’ and ‘not traumatic.’ Anyone who believes that explaining sexuality is difficult and traumatic, is being ‘gaslighted.’

Telling a child that Uncle Bob goes everywhere with Pete because they’re in love doesn’t actually ‘explain homosexuality.’ It isn’t possible to ‘explain’ very much to a 3-year old because children aren’t able to understand abstract concepts like love, loyalty, or ‘gaslighting.’ Love is expressed in thousands of ways and ‘going everywhere together’ is just one of them. Cops on patrol ‘go everywhere together’ but it’s not because they’re ‘in love just like Mummy and Daddy.’

“We’re all scarred for life,” is more sarcasm. The meme is suggesting that a 3-year old child now understands the concept of homosexuality after hearing a 10-word statement. It was simple, easy, and unremarkable. If your conversations about sexuality were more complicated or emotional, you are being ‘gaslighted.’

The main thing to remember about sexuality is that it is about sex, not love. ‘Conflate’ is a word that means ‘fuse together’ and that’s what sexual predators do with the words ‘sex’ and ‘love.’ They teach little children that sex and love are the same thing. They tell children that homosexuality is ‘going around together’ and that’s what people do when they’re ‘in love.’

But homosexuality is about sex, just like heterosexuality. Gaslighters know this and that’s why they want you to think you’re crazy for saying it. They want you to believe that explaining homosexuality is easy and they’ll laugh at you if you disagree. Falling for these lies actually does scar people for life.
