Mike Pence is married.
That freaks a lot of people out.
Apparently, he didn’t mention this often enough during the campaign.
Now, I’ll admit, the Pence marriage is pretty goofy.
The guy gives his wife special status.
He treats her differently…
…just because he’s married to her!
It’s flagrant bias.
Obvious prejudice.
She’s privileged!
Shouldn’t there be some kind of law against this?
Sadly, heterosexual monogamy is still legal in this country.
Since we can’t throw Pence in jail, we’ll have to settle for mocking him.
We’ll denounce him for decency.
We’ll shame him for chivalry.
Remember, Pence is a hick from the Midwest.
He doesn’t know any better.
The poor sap believes vows are sacred.
He’s reluctant to subject himself to unnecessary temptation.
So backward.
So regressive.
It’s embarrassing.
Hopefully, Anthony Weiner will tell him how a politician should treat a woman.

One would think there would be some degree of embarrassment about going public with what for lefts is low brow stupidity.
But, nay, we’re not in Kansas anymore Dorothy.
This place is too crazy even for Alice’s Wonderland.
I know! We’re in 21st Century Leftist America!!
LOL!
Isn’t that sweet? I think that’s very sweet. Thou shall not approve of anything “weird and heteronormative.”
Of course, he’s a total misogynist, can’t control himself sexually, and he’s now deprived ALL women of our vast networking opportunities. Yes, “networking opportunities.” Apparently women must be uh, “mentored,” a la Bill Clinton in order to get ahead in the business world. So…..I guess President Trump was just doing some community organizing and helping to advance women’s rights in the workplace?
Yeah–if there’s one thing women need in order to succeed in–well, succeed in anything, really–it’s unrestricted alone time with another woman’s husband.
I think it’s Feminism 101:
“Unless you’re given private time with a man of your choosing, you’re being oppressed.”
The things the media finds to make fun of reaches all new highs. They rival your blog, John. Better find something trivial to sarcastically blow out of proportion pretty soon.
How can I find something more trivial than this?
Touché.
It’s funny, on one hand, you have Donald Trump- who is not the poster child of healthy marriages and pure remarks- and he is called sexist for what he says.
Then you have Mike Pence, who shows restraint, integrity, and accountability to his wife- and he is called sexist for what he does. I’m trying to figure out what is a non-sexist approach in the world’s eye.
Now, the pastors that I know go to great lengths to avoid any temptations, rumors, or false accusations by not being with the opposite sex alone- male pastors as well as female pastors.
My dad, for instance, will either take his wife or his mother with him if he is going to visit a female parishioner that is not accompanied by another person.
However, in response to this article, http://www.christianitytoday.com/women-leaders/2016/june/ladies-who-lunch-with-men.html?paging=off, my dad has eaten lunch alone with another woman other than my mom- under certain conditions.
1) My mom knows who he is with, and his whereabouts.
2) It is a public area with many people around- not in anyone’s home or any other private setting.
One time, before I was old enough to remember- I just know the story- a few ladies from the church that my family attended approached my mom about the issue. My dad would eat lunch with a female coworker of his at the local park (on the nice summer days, of course). The ladies, either out of concern, criticism, or curiosity, asked my mom ” Do you know what I saw your husband doing at the park the other day?” To their surprise, my mom answered ” Yes, he was eating lunch with his coworker- good friend of ours.” ( she said the coworker’s name. I just can’t remember.) I’m not sure whether they were more surprised that she trusted him with that or disappointed that they would have nothing to gossip about- either way, they were shocked.
Now, with Mike Pence, since he is in more of a public figure than most pastors- I respect him for going a step further- the tabloids would soar with gossip and rumors- especially now. They don’t have to be true, they just have to be troublesome.
But isn’t in funny that in the same week that this is getting highlighted, news has come out about the sexual assault cases of male staff and Olympian female gymnasts? If they had a same-sex policy “Male doctors for male gymnasts and female doctors for female gymnasts” they wouldn’t have all of these cases. It’s bad enough that these things happen, it’s worse when the media will make fun of a man whose policy would save a lot of harm to young, innocent girls.
Well played my friend. This story is just another hit piece on conservative Christians. News flash, our VP honors and respects his wife. Hey, guess what? Many of us do the exact same thing. Go figure.
I was just thinking:
Whenever I visit my (male) gyneologist’s office, he requires a (female) nurse to be in the room with us during exams.
Weird! Does he think he can’t control himself?!?! Creepy! Sexist! Let’s make fun of him…
He should run for office.
I’m offended that he just assumes that you identify as female and require another (probably assumed) female to be present. Also, I’m offended that assumes that he himself might be straight a straight… though maybe she is a gay female and it is appropriate to have another assumed, straight female present…
No matter what, I’m offended.
The lack of citations in the OP gives me hope that he really is a sack of crap. The OP is clearly too pessimistic about Pence’s ability to fulfill my expectations of a high-ranking politician.
The OP failed to mention that Pence also referred to his wife as “Mother” repeatedly, during a dinner party.
So… clearly, there’s still reason to think he’s a sack of crap. 🙂
Woe to those who call good evil and evil good. Sad commentary on our culture when men who treat their wives with respect and honor then dare to love them as Christ loved the church is ridiculed. How dare he be such an example. So don’t get hurt by the rocks your going to be looking under to find a flaw in his character. Maybe he will kick a dog and you can be mad him for that.
He doesn’t even have to KICK a dog… just ask Mitt Romney. LOL.

Hahaha, do you look this stuff up for fun, or do you have a good memory? I have never heard of that story. It’s hilarious that there even is a story about that.
She is an elephant. She never forgets.
When he said “kick a dog” I remembered. hehe. (Though, I thought it was Ted Cruz until Google corrected me.) 🙂
