Boy, we like to hear famous people thank God for stuff.
A hat tip at the Oscars is better than a lifetime of obscure obedience.
I wonder how Scripture would read if Bible characters talked like Hollywood award recipients.
Matthew 16:15-16 – “But what about you,” Jesus asked. “Who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered…
“You are the big guy upstairs who’s just all right with me!”
Acts 2:36 – “Therefore, let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified…
“A great dude who guarantees success. Without him, this award wouldn’t be possible!”
Psalm 8:4-5 – What is mankind that you are mindful of them? Humankind that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels…
Here’s proof: an angel never won an Oscar!
Nobody wins a trophy without God.
Without God, people don’t exist.
Existing is a crucial first step in trophy acquisition.
It’s good to acknowledge God’s role in human achievement.
You don’t HAVE to walk the red carpet to testify.
And if God’s going to show up in the acceptance speeches…
why can’t He make more appearances in the scripts?
