I owe him a “Thank You”.
I thought we were lost.
But happily…
…Josh Duggar has proven we’re not!
We still have some standards!
It still matters how people behave!
We’re not okay with cheating.
There is collective agreement that a husband breaking his marriage vows is despicable.
I’m shocked!
SHOCKED!
I expected the religious people to be upset.
Everything upsets them.
But even non-religious people are mad at Josh!
That’s what encourages me!
His hypocrisy irritates them.
But I’m optimistic that it’s deeper than that.
I’m optimistic that they really do believe it’s wrong for a husband to damage his family.
Otherwise, Josh and his critics share the same sin.
For those who make fun of his faith…
…to be outraged that he isn’t following the precepts of that faith…
…is hypocritical at every level.
It is inconsistent to simultaneously mock Christianity…
…and mock Josh Duggar because he isn’t behaving like a Christian.
I assume the critics aren’t doing that…
… because I try to assume the best about people.
And that’s why I’m saying “Thanks” to Josh.
He has helped restore a little of my faith in mankind.
I thought our expectations of ethical behavior had been replaced…
…by the ‘Don’t Judge Me’ philosophy.
Live and let live, right?
I didn’t think we cared about honesty…
…integrity…
…loyalty…
…or the sacredness of marriage.
Here’s to you, Josh…
…for proving me wrong.
