A lot of people have told me they can be good without God. These people are wrong.
“John, you jerk! I don’t believe in your sky fairy and I am a really good person.”
You’re telling me that you’re a really good person assuming I understand what goodness is. You didn’t try to prove that goodness exists. You took it for granted that we agree about what is good.
Goodness is not like a tree or a cat or a tub of vanilla yogurt. You can’t point at it and say, “There’s some goodness.” So why did you assume I would understand what you meant when you told me you’re a good person?
Because…goodness is defined by God which makes it universally understood by human beings. Every person is made in the image of God. The knowledge of good and evil is what separates us from animals; which are creatures that have no standards for morality. You depend on God’s existence to give meaning to your goodness.
Saying, “I can be good without God” is like saying, “I can be wet without moisture.” It’s like saying you can see without light.
To deny the existence of God is to deny the existence of goodness.
(James 1:17) “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

It is not a joke. It is true which is why you think it is a load of shite.
Is this a joke or just a load of shite?
