It seems you aren’t aware that it is already illegal to shoot children. No matter the type of gun, the ammo capacity, the rate of fire, the law prohibits shooting kids. That’s a very sensible gun law.
It seems you are just now becoming aware that the law doesn’t actually stop anyone from shooting kids. Laws have no power over human behavior. If you’ve ever experienced riding in an automobile, you might have noticed that people exceed the speed limit. Even though the law is clearly posted right on the side of the road, people decide whether or not to obey it. Sensible gun laws are just like that.
It seems you have turned ‘The Law’ into your god. Despite it repeatedly failing to protect children from gunmen, you continue to cry out to lawmakers for your salvation. You sincerely believe that violence will end when shooting kids is made ‘Extra-Super-Duper-REALLY-Illegal.’
“John, you jerk! You’re saying we shouldn’t do anything! You don’t care about children!”
It seems you are still not getting it. Accusing me of being a heartless, gun-loving, Trump supporting, boot licker doesn’t protect kids either. My alleged lack of concern is just another god in your Pantheon. The body count continues to climb even as you proclaim that you’re ‘Extra-Super-Duper-REALLY-Concerned.’ Your outrage is another powerless idol.
It seems you don’t know that the other gods are as useless as your own. You curse the ‘Gun Lobby’ and the ‘Republican Party’ as though they have the power to stop evil. You think that GOP leaders could eliminate suffering but refuse to do so. This would be a good time to learn that all idols are equally worthless.
Christians, let’s stop crying out for ‘sensible laws’ and ‘regulations’ to protect us. You were told a long, long, long time ago that there is no salvation in the law. You have pleaded with ‘The Law’ to rescue you but your god cannot answer your prayers.
If you want to do something productive, proclaim the gospel. Whenever a person becomes a Christian, a school shooting is stopped.
(Psalm 135:13) “The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.”

Laws empower the state. The state is supposed to use its empowerment to protect citizens. In the United States that supposition is becoming problematic.
Also problematic is the State’s confusion about who needs protecting from whom.
