I hate making decisions. It’s a struggle for me to decide if I’m going to scoop ice cream into a bowl or just eat out of the carton. I can’t decide when it’s time to replace my toothbrush. Whenever I’m asked where I want to eat lunch, I ALWAYS say, “You pick.”
It takes me a long time to decide what shape I want to represent me on a Monopoly board. A game of Monopoly takes a long time and I don’t want to be stuck with the wheelbarrow for hours and hours. I can’t decide whether to be ‘X’ or “O” in Tic-Tac-Toe. I’ve always let other members of the family name our pets because by the time I choose a name, the pet is deceased.
It’s a relief when somebody else makes decisions so I’m grateful that God chooses a lot of important things for me. He decides when and where it will rain. He decides the color of flowers and the sounds every bird will make. He paints sunsets. He determines the height of mountains and the surface area of oceans. And He chose the body that my soul inhabits.
The pressure is off. God decided that I’m a male so I don’t need to spend hours weighing the pros and cons of being something else. The decision has already been made. I can just relax and live as my authentic self.
(Genesis 5:1) When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them “man.”
