“Today’s guest was bitten by a shark while snorkeling and suffered severe physical and psychological trauma. She will be lecturing about the importance of scuba safety legislation.”
Ridiculous.
“Our next speaker escaped a housefire that destroyed all his earthly possessions including his dog, “Tipsy”. He suffered severe physical and psychological trauma. He will be lecturing about how to properly install gas appliances.”
Nonsense.
“Today we’ll hear from a young woman who was thrown through the windshield of her car during an accident. She suffered severe physical and psychological trauma. She will be offering her insights regarding seat-belt and airbag designs.
Absurd.
“On March 24th, high school kids, suffering severe psychological trauma after a school shooting incident, will gather in Washington. They will create solutions to gun violence in America.”
Yes! This is exactly what we need!
We need the perceptions of traumatized teenagers.
Should the personal experience of a handful of teenagers outweigh the constitutional rights of millions of law-abiding citizens?
ABSOLUTELY!
These kids have been traumatized so they’ll know what to do about guns.
Sensibility should take a back seat.
The kids have had ENOUGH!
They’re going to take action!
And after the kids solve the gun violence issue, they can fix the rest of America’s problems.
The kids can balance the budget.
The kids can mend the rift between political ideologies.
The kids can fix prison overpopulation.
The kids can fix poverty.
Traumatized children are an untapped resource for enlightened wisdom.
“However, the shooter is not the only one responsible for this tragedy. While the alleged shooter may have had several issues, he also lived in a society where Sen. Marco Rubio refuses to take responsibility for the role gun culture may have played in this tragedy.”
See?
Without the hysterical, ranting of a politicized school-boy, we wouldn’t know Marco Rubio is to blame for school shootings.
I’m anxious to hear what these wise children suggest we do with Rubio.
Give him a swirly?
Throw him in prison?
Execute him?
Whatever they say, we should do it!
Victims always know best.

Where does the atheist’s moral outrage come from? There is no such thing as evil (except for Christians, Trump, and now Rubio) and everything is subjective. In fact, I was told that these things are pathological, so the kid couldn’t help it. He was a slave to his chemistry. So, why the outrage? Stronger drugs and confinement are the answer!
What if we actually taught moral responsibility in school instead? That it’s not okay to shoot your classmates when you don’t get your way? Of course, that would be religious, can’t do that.
Indeed. There is no more powerful religious conviction than the separation of church and state.
Schools: “You are a collection of molecules that just happened to evolve, by accident, and you will simply cease to exist when you die. Humans create purposes for themselves.”
Schools, when a shooting occurs: “No, THAT’S not your purpose!…you need to CARE about other collections of molecules!”
Good point. Didn’t we once hand a bunch of traumatized and hysterical teen agers too much power and it eventually led to burning people at the stake? It is also exceedingly immoral to exploit victims for the sake of our own agenda.
A new form of politics takes a more serious center stage (unfortunately), Emotional Politics. Because I feel this way, something should be done now, I demand it. Damn the consequences, I feel this is right.
Sadly, I am not surprised by this moronic line of thinking as mankind has continually been devalued as evolved animals with no responsibility, therefore we blame inanimate objects for wrong doing. by that reasoning cars have been responsible for many more deaths. #cruisecontrol anyone?
Just noticed my user avatar, I don’t recall setting it to a viking skull flanked by cross axes, rest assured I am no pagan, yet I won’t deny its awesomeness.
Not recalling assigning your avatar just leads to another, even more awkward question…
I suppose I am a victim of avatar reassignment, I should probably call my congressman and tell them I demand something be done about this 😉
Dear John,
This is a fantastic post. A family member is following the CNN line of saying how amazing these kids are, and was praising their march.
(I loved your post about that!)
I think I’m going to print this post and surreptitiously leave it where he can find it.
John, I love your posts, comedy and creativity.
Your writing stirs up so much within my heart and spirit – thank you! I often want to put in a comment filled with applauding emojis.
I really have to put a brake on my comments: I am very quiet, and your posts draw me out.
I want to be “a good neighbor”, not “visiting too often”. So, even if you don’t see comments from me, please know that I am appreciating, and applauding, your comedic, faith-filled, observational genius.
Blessings, to you and the lovely people who “get it”. Hoping you shine His light into many hearts and minds, and help others see and embrace Jesus❤️😊 Katy
Thank you, John!!!
Thanks for the kind words, Katy. I sincerely appreciate the encouragement.
I tend not to respond to affirmations in the comment section because I don’t want to seem like I’m “fishing” for compliments. I’ve visited many blogs where the “discussion” is nothing but lavish praise for the blog author. I would rather talk about the topic at hand than rehash my personal awesomeness. 🙂
That said, my comment section is open to everyone. Please don’t feel like you need to “put on the brakes”. Speak your mind. You’re welcome to say whatever you want to say.
Thanks for reading!
Said as a humble man. Yes, as pride and ego are conquered, fishing for compliments becomes unnecessary.
You are a joy, and touch my heart and spirit, John. Thank you
I think the kids are asking for the government to take action. I cannot blame them, after all, they are they are going to inherit the mess.
2017: Trump is literally Hitler!
2018: Please, Trump, take action!
The kids are props. Whoever is really organizing this march is using the ignorant children for political leverage.
The Great God Government will not deliver them from evil. These kids are told in school that there is no God. But they turn around and turn Marco Rubio into Satan. I’m sure Florida has some wise people who know this. They’ll never appear on CNN but they will have an impact.
Being a victim does not make you an expert it just makes you a victim. The kids that are the victims of the school shooting are just that victim’s half of which are too immature to understand the moral concept of right and wrong or sinner and non-sinner.
As far as the kids wanting better gun control cool but the gun is not the problem, it’s a heart issue. Do you think a Christian who has a love of Jesus in his/ her heart would pull off a mass murder like that? No why because they know that killing is a sin and the wages of sin is death.
I find it ironic that like Mrsmcmommy stated that one year the kids are screaming that he is Hitler. I give the movement about two more months, and it will fade away by then the news will find a new subject to use as a rallying cry.
So just because something bad happens to you, this does not make you an expert.
I would so love to know what the kid’s point of view on abortion is because if they say abortion is ok, then that would make them a hypocrite.
