There was a movie called, “The Interview” that upset some Christians. I didn’t actually see the movie but I knew the folks were upset about the final scene which featured an awesome, slow-motion explosion of a helicopter, which portrayed North Korea’s lovable dictator, Kim Jong Un, blowing to bits in awesome, slow-motion.

To these Christians, it’s inappropriate.

They correctly stated, “Kim Jong Un is a sinner who needs Jesus.”

In their opinion, killing isn’t right, even when the killing is a spectacularly cool, slow motion, stylized helicopter explosion!

So to help my brethren out, I will patiently, lovingly explain,

In movies, people don’t really die.

Kim Jong Un doesn’t really get killed in ‘The Interview’.

It’s all special effects.

And the guy on the helicopter is an actor.

In real life, Kim Jong Un is alive and well.

Oppressing millions of real life people.

Actually torturing and killing actual human beings.

Building actual nuclear weapons.

So don’t worry!

Kim can still make a decision for Christ.

Maybe the movie will bring about an epiphany!

He’ll see his make-believe likeness blown to bits and think:

“Gosh. I’m not portrayed as a nice man.

Why don’t people like me?

Is it the killing?

The torture?

The self-serving megalomania?

I’m gonna read the Bible!”

And in a few days, Kim Jong Un becomes a Christian!

Prays Jesus right into his heart!

We’ll know the transformation is complete

…when he starts judging pantomimed killing as sinful.

The wicked man craves evil;

his neighbor gets no mercy from him.

When a mocker is punished, the simple gain wisdom;

when a wise man is instructed, he gets knowledge.

The Righteous One takes note of the house of the wicked

and brings the wicked to ruin.

  1. Phew! Thought my proofreading was declining. Nope, this is the updated 2021 “North” version. Also explains why I wasn’t aware of the movie or controversy.😉
