We learned something.

Donald Trump says crude, vulgar, sexist things.

Shocking!

That came out of nowhere, didn’t it?

He has been so polite during his campaign.

He’s done such a good job of hiding his boorishness.

His pristine reputation as a cultured, well-mannered choir boy is slipping.

Is this the end?

Is Trump finished?

No.

Trump isn’t riding a wave of wholesome, Christian values.

Those guys were a joke, remember?

Remember how we laughed at the Bible thumping wing nuts?

We shuddered every time they talked about their faith.

America is NOT a ‘theocracy’!

Suspend your campaigns, you hateful, bigoted, Christians!

We need the hard-nosed, from the hip, straight talk of Trump.

He’s gonna make America great again!

All by himself.

Without any of the old-fashioned ideology that made America great before.

You needed Trump.

You got him!

Nobody is riding the ‘Trump Train’ because Donald is a nice guy.

You had a chance to select a candidate who doesn’t grab women by the p***y.

You nominated a guy who owns a strip club.

Stop clutching your pearls.

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are mirrors to our collective soul.

These are the people who WE want leading our nation.

These are the people who represent OUR values.

Either one is a grotesque mistake.

They are both monsters.

And we are Dr. Frankenstein .

After the election, with eyes wide open…

…we’re bringing one of these abominations to life.

  1. Surely, the overriding question all Americans should ask is:
How on earth did Donald Trump get nominated let alone win the Republican nomination?
And I am taking a flyer here that most of those on this blog are Republicans, yes?

  2. I have had the same sort of thoughts that we have candidates that mirror the prevailing culture. All for one and one for me. At the risk of running afoul of your heathen readers it reminds me of the nation of Israel wanting a king. Sometimes God gives you what you ask for and there are consequences as a result.

  3. John,

    /begin political rant

The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty.

    – George Washington

There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.

    – John Adams

Those Founding Fathers were no mystical prognosticators, but men shrewd enough to know the nature of the sinfulness of the hearts of men and how the desire to be in power corrupts and the desire to stay in power is an obsession. They hated political parties, having seen the politics in England and elsewhere.

I live in a politically ignorant state. They vote the same people in year after year, but complain that things never change. They overwhelmingly vote for one party, but when asked about the issues, one by one, they agree with nearly none of what that party stands for, It is just what they do. Frustrating, but likely unchangeable in the next couple of generations.

I served my country in the Army, so I have a personal stake in the value of my vote. And I choose to vote my conscience, informed by my love of the Almighty, and my love of my country, in that order.

I am choosing a candidate who is not one of the “Big Two”, and I am certainly not throwing away my vote when I do that. I elect not to choose the “lesser of two evils” when I have a choice of not choosing an evil at all.

Change is possible is our political system, but it may take another generation or two to kill off the existing parties and parties all together. I dream of a day when again there are no primaries, where once again anyone who wants to run and is qualified (Constitutionally) is an option for all to select on the ballot.

I think it is safe to say a majority (and if not quite that then pretty darn close to it) of voters out there wanted someone besides the two main candidates to be their choice for president. The primary numbers on both sides likely bear that out.

But we are left with these two as our only choices? I say thee nay. I say tell the two big parties of lesser-of-two to take their system and go home. We the People should demand better.

Romans 1:22-23 (ESV) – Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

      1. John,

I am still mulling it over. I know am running out of time, though. I am a Tea Party guy, and was a Ted Cruz supporter. Wonder if I can write him in… 🙂

I found a website that lists many third party and independent candidates and what they stand for. I will be doing more in depth research this evening and can better make a choice. I had no idea that “The Real Grandmaster Jay” was a candidate this year. Who’da thunk?

        http://2016.presidential-candidates.org/?other=other

From a quick perusal of the list there, this is exactly what I would like to see as they way we get to see and choose our presidential candidates each year. Some may be quacks and quickly discounted, but many are legitimate candidates who believe they are the one for the job, and would no doubt have many voters, should their candidacy be seen by the entire nation. Then we would have a more legitimate set of choices, much more in line with what the Founding Fathers had in mind.

1 Corinthians 2:7 (ESV) – But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory.

      2. John,

After some research, I am currently leaning toward Darrell Castle of the Constitution Party.

        Dave

2 Corinthians 1:12 (ESV) – For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you.

  4. @McQ

Let’s make a pact: whoever wins, you and I agree to keep the faith and pray for our nation.

I am extremely curious, if you truly believe that any sort of prayer genuinely works then what the frakking hell have you been doing up to now?

    1. What do you mean “works?”

I pray that God gives me the peace to accept what I can’t change; the courage to change what I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.

      So far–it’s working!

          1. Well, better than just broken, right?

            So, which god, then?

Do you even know or are you simply cherry picking s/h/it? when you are down on your knees with your palms pressed firmly together?

          2. You mean the meglomaniacal, genocidal monster that condoned slavery – the same god found in that disgusting rag called the bible? The god you worship? Yahweh?

          3. I think mrsmcmommy is too young to remember records. She should have said you’re like a scratched record as that will still play but keeps repeating.

          4. Well you keep praying and nothing happens.
At least I am communicating with a real individual.
At least I am pretty sure I am?

    2. Prayer isn’t about me or it “working.” Prayer is communicating with the only God who loves me so much that He gave his only Son to pay the penalty for my sin and then rose Him from the grave to demonstate His power to give me hope of eternal life. He is the only God who has conquered death. His book, the Bible, which tells me about Him, has a long historical track record of authenticity and accuracy for those willing to do the research rather than trash talking. (Caution: numerous people who sought to discredit the Bible with research have become followers of its Author.) Because He has demonstrated His love and power, and because His thoughts and ways are higher than mine, I have been trusting Him (through even serious trials) until now and will continue.

      1. Is the god you are referring to the meglomaniacal capricious genocidal dumbfuck, Yahweh?

Love? He condoned slavery and also dished out rules for it as well.
How is that a sign of love?

You really think you will have a life after death? lol
Based on what? The bible? Are you kidding me?

So tell me, how has the prayer thing been going for you lately with this mad made Canaanite deity?
        Any positive replies so far?

Apparently he used to talk to George W Bush and advised him to go to war.

Oh and I’ll bet Trump is your new Pres.
The prefect representative of the mindless right wing god fearin’ half wits.
You truly deserve one and other.

I’m curious though. What was your big sin? Drugs, Booze, Pornography?
Just for interest’s sake you understand.

      2. Hey McQ –

Don’t worry about Ark Garfunkel. He’s a maroon!

The poor dope doesn’t even fully appreciate the beauty of the creation that he photographs.

Nor can his buddies or he explain what’s wrong with slavery (other than they would not like to be slaves). Nothing in nature says that slavery is wrong. The weakest around the world are slaves because nature. Nature, nature, nature!

        Plus morality is subjective.*

  5. Truth, yes. Ugly truth, absolutely. Give up my right to vote, never.

Why? Because one of the monsters will be my next president. Staying home in my bed afraid won’t make the monsters go away. So if I must have a monster, I must use the freedom, that many have sacrificed their lives to give me, to choose which one. I want the one who, though a sinner like me, hasn’t carelessly or callously put my country’s security or citizens, especially those in the military or those in the womb, in danger. I want the monster who has a teddy bear, a wise teddy bear, at his side. Teddy bears aren’t scary. Teddy bears don’t think people are expendable or of no value. Teddy bears don’t use people. Teddy bears bring happiness and comfort and hope. A teddy bear named Mike has done that in Indiana! And perhaps a teddy bear can tell a monster about the hope of Jesus Christ and the monster can not only become a little less scary, but can be transformed. Fairy tale? Fantasy? Maybe. But as long as God is in control, and He is, anything is possible, and we are to place our hope in Him, and continue to tell the world of His saving grace so that they can be transformed from monsters into His children.

Atheists and Pence haters need not reply. We already know what you think.

    1. What about a third option, McQ?

Why do we have to keep choosing the cleanest turd out of the bowl? 🙂

Can’t we use our vote to make a statement against this “two choice” system? I want to vote for someone I actually SUPPORT, so I’m considering Castle or McMullin.

      1. I don’t believe voting for someone outside the 2 monsters, I mean parties, will win. I believe it will get us the scariest monster and I know how scary that is. Remember who won (both times!) when Perot was the 3rd turd? 😉 This is political “deja vu all over again.” :-O

I believe we are to make a decision based upon which monster best gives us hope we can continue to have the freedom to live and share the gospel because as citizens foremost of heaven, that is to be our first priority. I believe If we want to make a statement, that is to be done where it has a chance of making a difference. And obviously I don’t think that happens in the voting booth. 🙂 If we want to have 3rd party candidates win, we must find, support, and promote them LONG before an election.

Let’s make a pact: whoever wins, you and I agree to keep the faith and pray for our nation. 🙂

        1. I actually wasn’t old enough to vote during the Perot cycle. 🙂 But I agree that there’s no way the third party can win this time around. In my opinion, Hillary is going to get this round (like I told Ark above). But, I’m not sure it’s going to mean the end of being able to share the gospel. In fact, I told my dad a few days ago, “Trump is a reality TV star. I’m waiting for him to finish taking his oath and then yell–surprise! I just wanted to do a social experiment to see if I could get elected even though I’ve been working with Hillary the whole time!” Oy.

Anyway, pact accepted. No matter who wins, our hope isn’t in the Presidents regardless.

          1. Having met your (hilarious) paternal parental unit, and judging (oh no, a Christian judging!) him to be in or near the same “survey age demographic box” as me, I would have guessed you weren’t. 😉 I had “newborn sleep deprivation brain” in 1992 so had to resort to Wiki to confirm my hunch: in both 92 and 96, Perot aka 3T ran, and the Clintons moved/stayed in the White House. (I could say something about Clintons and 3T’s but don’t want the Atheists who follow this blog to think me a wing nut, conspiracy theory Christian, so I’ll pass.)(Oh wait, they’ve already given me the label. Whatever.)

HRC and the her SCOTUS picks certainly won’t make protecting religious freedom a priority. Nor does she have a track record of supporting anything remotely resembling biblical including protecting life, integrity, the value of work, honesty, and tough love that puts truth above personal choice and feelings. Nor does her VP pick. Catholics are calling on his church to renounce him as a heretic for his public support of “choice.”

            I have a post-election idea too!
Trump is used to doing what he wants. When he wants. How he wants. After a few weeks of DC gridlock, and less than NYC food options, he realizes it’s easier and more fun to run a business than a nation. He decides he doesn’t want to be tied down to the Prez gig. He has an idea. He says, “I know! Let’s get Mikey to do it!” (Ask your dad about the Life cereal commercial if you’re too young.)

          2. Also, for the Atheists who are always hanging around, devouring information, and filing it away to bring up later: I’ll be 29 next month.

(And from what I’ve learned from other women, I’m allowed to stay 29 for the rest of my life.) 😉

          1. Nope. I know better than to take your bait and allow this thread go off topic. I don’t care whether Dubya was a good President. I don’t care whether you think he was or whether my sister thinks he was or whether all your Atheist buddies think he was.

            I don’t care.

            This post is about Trump.

          2. Nah, it will be Hillary.

The Christians won’t be able to violate their consciences. Almost all of the Christians I know (who usually vote Republican) are voting for Independents this time around. Hillary will get the office, but it will be the smallest popular vote in history. lol.

          3. The Christians won’t be able to violate their consciences.

Why not? They do it all the time.

            Friendly bet:
Trump wins, you become non – religious.
            Trump loses:
            I’ll go to church.
Maybe I could even post pictures to prove I was there?

          4. Lol. I would have to become an Atheist–and all you’d have to do is go to church?

            That seems a little one-sided.

How about: I bet you we’re both going to lose no matter who gets the Presidency.

          5. Well, I was thinking that if your god is so cool maybe a visit to church would make me see the light?
And if Trumps wins maybe you will see common sense?

And I’ll bet he will …
            Wait and see.
            The US of Eh?
More laughs than the SA government.

        1. Post about Trump? Let’s talk about Yahweh.

Post about religion being part of everyone? Let’s talk about Yahweh.

          Post about racism? Yahweh.

Post about the Hawaiian God ‘Lo?’
          Yahweh!

          Yahweh, yahweh, yahweh, Yahweh!

Lol. I was being serious: I want to worship whichever God is tying these Atheists in knots.

  6. Thank you for putting in print what no one else has. Yes, we are getting what we deserve. It is of our own making. So sad to see but so not surprised.
