There are few guarantees in life.

Death and taxes are two of them.

Another one is this:

Take yourself seriously and people will laugh at you.

I’ve got fairly mediocre graphic design skills.

I can cobble together simple graphics like this:

I’m no DaVinci.

It would be okay with me if somebody grabbed my humble banner and used it on their own obscure blog.

The only reason I would threaten legal proceedings would be as a joke.

“Hey! You don’t have permission to use the crappy image I cobbled together with my novice-level Photoshop skills.”

How did you even know it’s posted here?

“Take it down right now or I will have no choice but to begin legal proceedings!”

Um…actually, there is another choice.

“Take it down!”

You could just ignore it like everyone else on the planet.

“I’m not kidding! The copyright police force is dispatching armored vehicles!”

You’re taking yourself way too seriously.

“You are desecrating my art!”

Ha ha ha ha!  I get it you’re messing with me.

“Yeah. I’m just kidding.”

And we’d share a good laugh.

Because fretting over inconsequential things is always funny.

Guaranteed.

    1. I’ve had conversations with comedians who refuse to let people post their clips without permission. They are worried about “over exposure”. I do not understand the concern.
If everybody in the world sees my “art” how is that a bad thing?

      1. Maybe unlike you… they are ashamed of their art (or antitheist philosophies.)

      2. People posting your clips on YouTube is how I discovered you, John. I, likewise, shared your hysterically funny Little Pigs on a world-wide forum. I cannot travel to come see you on tour, so your freely sharing “funny bits” is wonderful. I hope to be able to take your course, so the good you have freely shared will come back to you.

Thank you for the laughter, and your great posts.

  1. I would like to thank Mr. Beuhr–publically and genuinely–for making my day yesterday, when he called the 888-number for johnbranyan.com and left a voice message that first confused and then delighted me.

    I do LOVE a British accent. 😉
