If you read my blog regularly, you might remember that I’ve offered my opinion on COVID , masks, and the tendency for compassionate government to ruin everybody’s life. If you don’t read my blog regularly, then you can dismiss this article as alarmist propaganda based on one example of circumstantial evidence. You can tell me I’m overreacting and fear mongering.

Perhaps you’ve heard that some church people have been arrested for singing hymns outdoors because they weren’t practicing social distancing and wearing masks. Regardless of whether or not you’ve heard about it, it happened.

Numerous friends have asked me, “Why are you making a big deal out of wearing a mask?” In their minds, I’m overreacting when I say the government imposed mask mandates are draconian tyranny. I’m fear-mongering when I suggest that the masks are just the beginning of oppression without limits. My pals insist, “Wearing a mask is simply loving your neighbor.”

The government is stepping in to force neighborly love on everyone. After weeks of standing idle while rioters burn cities, those who are sworn to protect us are finally putting a stop to peaceful demonstrations. Sticks and stones may break my bones but singing without a mask will kill us all.

I won’t be told I’m overreacting anymore. Church people are being arrested for singing hymns without masks while masked looters maim and destroy unimpeded. I never objected to wearing a mask for the safety of others. But I knew all along this mask protocol was NEVER about the safety of others.

There is only one reason to arrest church people for standing too close together; to prove that you can. The COVID protocols are simply displays of power. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Believing the government authorities are motivated by compassion is profoundly naive. Tyranny doesn’t stop when all the church people are arrested. You’ll eventually find yourself in handcuffs too. When that happens, try not to overreact.

As an aside, the organizer of the infamous “Psalm Sing” that resulted in several church members in handcuffs, is a guy named Ben Zornes. It just so happens that Ben was a guest on my Soapbox a few weeks ago. Knowing a little bit about how Ben thinks, I wasn’t shocked to discover that he masterminded the scandal…

  1. Seriously, we are all gonna die because when we are finally allowed to breathe again, we won’t have the strength in our immune systems to fight off sickness. Also wearing masks for long periods of time isn’t healthy. I’m also concerned because if I’m right most of you didn’t know what a mask was when you were 2 right? Well now you would be wearing one to pre-school for 8 hours, 2 days a week. This is only speaking about the health concerns of masks. I feel as if the government is taking control over us. When was it okay for the government to mandate I stay in my house if I haven’t broken the law? When was it okay for the government to force me to wear a face covering out in public? For as long as I’ve been alive, these things were a person’s right. Now, I wear masks because I want to make others feel comfortable, but I should be able to choose if I want to wear a mask or not. Also Rae, I noticed you commented that your mother was tazed for not wearing a mask. That is absolutely ridiculous. Should I not have the right to choose what I wear on my face, or if I want to go out in public?

  2. I used to think it was just my natural bent toward rebellion to being told what to do that made me so mad about this mask thing. But now, I am convinced that wisdom has nothing to do with all the mandates.
“There is a way that seems right to a man (or power hungry leader) but the end of it is DEATH.”
There are lies all around me. There is One who holds the Truth.

  3. I’m in NY, and it is nasty under the dictatorship of (D)Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his ilk.

He champions BLM, they roam the streets of NYC and now smaller towns (if masked, I think it’s only to hide their identities as they set fires and loot). Many of the white P.C. protestors who have filled streets jam-packed together don’t wear masks, which apparently if you’re protesting you don’t get or transmit Covid-19. Weirdly enough if people gather to worship or pray (even in small groups and wearing masks inside church, outside, even in cars) you are evil murderers and must be stopped.

    I believe worse is planned…

    1. I’m reading a small book by Dr. Judy A. Mikovits (a heroine in my estimation) and Kent Heckenlively, JD “The Case Against Masks: Ten Reasons Why Mask Use Should Be Limited.” Very interesting reading.

Dr. Russell Blaylock has also written some great information about the negative health impacts of wearing masks as dictated by politicians.

  4. When this all started, back when it was “two weeks to flatten the curve,” I said I was concerned about governmental overreach. I was called an alarmist. I was called a kook. I was told that that would never happen. Six months later, I believe I have been proven right. When a mom is tazed at a ballgame for not wearing a mask and Christians are arrested for singing, that’s overreach.

As a matter of fact, the whole kerfuffle I was part of started when I shared YOUR examples of the difference between caution and fear. Being right doesn’t always make you popular. Does it, John?

    1. But, would you rather be RIGHT, or would you rather be KIND, Rae?

      Lol.

I’m just kidding, please don’t answer that. It’s a ridiculous false dichotomy that appeals to people who are always wrong and too lazy to fix it. 🙂
